Tune in on Monday 5 October at 3pm for a special broadcast of the Scarlet Pimpernel, performed by students of Perform Australia (formerly Canberra Academy of Dramatic art). This specially created radio play is brought to you in a collaboration between 1RPH and Perform Australia (www.perform.edu.au).
The talented Perform Australia students recreate the sound and ambiance of the original 1938 studio recording aired in the Lux Radio Theatre, New York, December 12 1938. The play tells the story of the daring Englishman with a secret identity who bedevils the French during the Revolution. The Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the most dashing figures of legend. He was a man of a hundred disguises who lived an almost continued masquerade. He had one great aim in life, to rescue the persecuted in France from the guillotine. In England only a few members of how own band knew that the great fool, that overdressed dandy Sir Percy Blakeney, was the elusive Pimpernel.
